Natural language understanding now supports multi-turn conversations

Tom Brennan, Elena Kovač

The update

The way people actually think about their data is not linear. You ask one question and the answer leads to another question. And then another. Until now, Dawning treated each question independently — which meant you had to restate context every time you wanted to go deeper. That changes with this release.

What is new & How it works

Dawning now maintains full context across a conversation about your data. Ask a follow-up question and Dawning understands it in relation to everything that came before. Drill down into a specific number from a previous answer. Ask Dawning to break down a result by a different dimension. Request a comparison with last quarter. All of it works now without losing the thread.

The update is available immediately for all users. Start any query in Dawning the way you normally would. When you want to ask a follow-up, type it naturally without restating the context. Dawning will carry the conversation forward from where you left off.

Asking questions is even easier

Ask a follow-up question and Dawning remembers everything from the previous exchange. No reformatting, no losing context, no starting over.

What is next

Multi-turn conversations are the foundation for a set of more advanced research features we are working on. More on that in the next release.
